What is wellness coaching?
Wellness coaching is a confidential, one-on-one relationship between a client and coach which helps to identify the client’s main health concerns, clarify priorities and areas for improvement, determine the obstacles to achieving the client’s individual wellness goals, and develop strategies to overcome those obstacles.
Central to coaching is the belief that we can all change – we are not stuck forever with same thoughts and behaviours that are detrimental to our long-term wellness. The main role of the wellness coach is to facilitate this positive change process, enabling the client to succeed and ultimately to become their own coach.
Wellness coaching will empower you to make lasting changes that significantly impact on your long-term health and wellbeing. It focuses on sustained health behavioural change, not just quick fixes.
A wellness coach can help you to improve in all areas of wellness including physical fitness, diet and nutrition, weight, stress, as well as addressing the emotional, social, spiritual and environmental factors which impact on wellness. The wellness coach is your own personal resource to achieving long-term wellness.

How often should coaching take place?
Most clients require a weekly session to keep them focused and motivated. This can be face-to-face, however if time is limited it can be done over the telephone.
What is the optimum duration for wellness coaching?
This will depend on the unique needs of each individual client. Some clients require only two or three sessions, whereas others will require much longer.
Note: It is important to understand that coaching is not therapy. Wellness programs are not intended to replace the advice of medical professionals. You should contact a qualified healthcare professional if you have a serious health problem.
